Over three thousand IIT Alumni pledge a minimum of USD 1 million each for the initiative. As we started the search for intervention projects, we realised that the effectiveness of funds is even more important than the level of funds, yet most non-profit organisations and social enterprises do not have access to affordable high-quality consulting services. At the same time, we realised that children of our alumni - have more to offer than simply collecting money or raising awareness - whilst they are in college or just starting their careers. They need admission to premium institutions and thereafter they need exposure to hone in on desirable career options. Many value impact over increments and learning over leveraging.
It became an opportunity to reboot for some, for others to detoxify themselves from commercial pursuits and for many it was an opportunity to rethink their lives. Social impact activities grew rapidly after covid. So did a concern for health - not just of the human, but also of the planet. Sustainability became a compulsion and climate change was now a believable reality. Some attributed the pandemic to climate change.
After two decades of the IIT Alumni movement as an unstructured activity, a need was felt to institutionalise the various activities and to formally incorporate the various entities.During Covid, membership had increased manifold from around 3,000 to over 30,000. Help was needed. Someone suggested we call in kids to help. And that is how the Alumni Next Platform was created. The initial members were kids of Life Members of the IIT Alumni Council. Not only were they really enthusiastic - they all loved what they got to do.
With more than 100 chapters and over 40,000 members in the nation building arm - IIT Alumni Council - the 500,000 strong IIT Alumni are a technology, startup and venture capital powerhouse like no other group in the world. The alumni group divided itself into six mission organisations. The Forum mission comprises of IIT Alumni who have a background in advisory and consultancy services
The Global Board of the IIT Alumni Council is the body that leads and manages the work of the Forum Chapters around the world. This includes supporting existing Forum Chapters, helping new chapters to get established, facilitating collaboration between chapters, ensuring consulting quality control, measuring the social impact
of the Chapters worldwide, and making crucial strategic decisions about the future of the organisation.

We are very proud to publish IIT Alumni Council's Annual Report – in a year where we have pushed our boundaries and accomplished great things our teams worked tirelessly to ensure the success of over 80 projects, and with over 500 student volunteers engaging in our work across 10 cities! This has now grown to over 2000 volunteers across 10 countries and 30 cities.
